The OndaVia MBO Analysis Cartridge is designed to measure 3,3′-methylenebis[5-methyloxazolidine] (MBO) in various water sources. Derived from monoisopropanolamine and formaldehyde, MBO will scavenge hydrogen sulfide (H2S) without forming insoluble by-products. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic and corrosive gas that can cause serious problems in the production, transportation, and processing of oil and natural gas. MBO reacts with H2S to form a non-toxic and stable compound, which helps to prevent the buildup of H2S in pipelines, storage tanks, and processing equipment. This reduction in H2S reduces the risk of corrosion, equipment failure, and environmental contamination, and ensures the safe and efficient production and transportation of oil and natural gas. MBO is often used in combination with other scavenging agents to provide more effective H2S removal and to extend the life of the scavenging system.
In addition, MBO acts as a microbiocide, given its formaldehyde-releasing nature.
