3,3′-methylenebis[5-methyloxazolidine] (MBO) Analysis Kit

Description

The OndaVia MBO Analysis Cartridge measures 3,3′-methylenebis[5-methyloxazolidine] (MBO) in various water sources. Derived from monoisopropanolamine and formaldehyde, MBO  scavenges hydrogen sulfide (H2S) without forming insoluble by-products. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic and corrosive gas that causes serious problems in the production, transportation, and processing of oil and natural gas. MBO reacts with H2S to form a non-toxic and stable compound. This reaction prevents the buildup of H2S in pipelines, storage tanks, and processing equipment. This reduction in H2S further reduces the risk of corrosion, equipment failure, and environmental contamination. In addition, H2S scavenging ensures the safe and efficient production and transportation of oil and natural gas. MBO is often used in combination with other scavenging agents to provide more effective H2S removal and to extend the life of the scavenging system.

In addition, MBO acts as a microbiocide, given its formaldehyde-releasing nature. Although not as well-known or widely-used in comparison to more common biocides like chlorine, quaternary ammonium compounds, or isothiazolinones, MBO controls or eliminates the growth of microorganisms (such as bacteria, fungi, and algae) in various applications. Use this Quantitative Raman Spectroscopy MBO Analysis Kit to optimize your chemical usage.
